TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I just completed my 9th year of full time teaching. I have had the pleasure to work in a variety of school setting. Mostly though, I have been THE history department 6 - 12. This gives me the opportunity to teach a variety of subject matter. I believe that I do a good job balancing content standards with the common core.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I think we do our students an injustice if we do not allow them to struggle just a bit. I set up my assessments so that we cover the basics, but I also challenge them to take on some of the responsibility in their own learning. I feel that this best prepares them for "life after high school" and helps them to be better decision makers. I offer support and guidance to help them to meet their goals. I try to vary my lessons so that I can reach the largest section of my students and their learning styles. I try to set high classroom goals and we work together to achieve them.
