M'Kayla Smith

I earned my Master's Degree in Counseling from WTAMU in 2022. I am currently an LPC-Associate (Supervised by Mary Dainty, LPC-S) working in the DFW area. I have worked just about every area of mental health - acute care, inpatient, outpatient, individual, family, group, and couples therapy, as well as child advocacy. While earning my master's degree, I taught kindergarten for a year. While I loved the students, teaching was not my jam. I knew that I would not be in it for the long haul. It was a great stepping stone for my career, though. Through teaching I learned how much is needed to run a successful classroom, how much effort teachers put in each day, and how important affordable resources are for a classroom.

I am a mom of 3, a wife of a coach/teacher, and love my career. I currently own my own private therapy practice, One Eighty Counseling, and run group therapy for teens during the week! I love to snack, watch TikTok, read, and do the laundry! I have worked in just about every mental health setting - acute care, inpatient, rehabilitation, outpatient, individual therapy, family therapy, couples therapy, and child advocacy. I love each aspect of mental health. My life goal is to make everything around me better than when I found it. :)
