TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am a 3rd year teacher. Going into my 3rd year, I have taught or will be teaching the following grade levels and subject areas: 7th grade ELA, 6th grade ELA, 6th grade Social Studies, 5th grade Social Studies, and 4th grade ELA Remediation. Prior to beginning my teaching career, I spent time gaining experience observing, participating, and teaching in the following grade levels and subject areas: Adult ESL Education, 7th grade Reading, 9th grade English I, 11th grade English III, 12th grade English IV, High School Creative Writing, Gifted Education, and Middle School After School Care.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I am what they call a "townie teacher" being that I grew up and attended the same schools that I now teach in. Literature and language are my true loves and having the opportunity to teach just that, as well as incorporate it cross-curricular in Social Studies is a DREAM. Engaging my kiddos in learning and convincing them to believe that education can be FUN is my passion! My classroom revolves around respect, honesty, community, love, and positivity (and a little bit of crazy). I believe that middle schoolers are the BEST schoolers, and I wouldn't want to be Ms. Wesson anywhere but IN THE MIDDLE.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I graduated from Louisiana State University with a B.A. in English with a concentration in secondary education. I am currently pursuing my M.Educational Leadership and furthering my education through graduate coursework at Southeastern Louisiana University.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

My name is Kristen Wesson! I am a Disney-obsessed 6th grade ELA and Social Studies teacher in a small town in southeast Louisiana- a sweet little community known as Watson. I am a GLOW (Go Light Our World) Club sponsor at my school, as well as the Cheerleading sponsor. I also am a coach for Live Oak Recreational Cheerleading.
