I have loved working as a string specialist, clinician and classroom music teacher in a variety of schools over the past 20 years. For 6 years, I was the director of a specialist early childhood music school where I developed a love for working with the very young musicians. This passion resulted in the creation of a unique beginner string method and other resources, some of which are available for purchase from my TPT store. I am currently Head of Strings and a classroom music teacher at Villanova College, Brisbane, Australia.
I am constantly inspired by the philosophy of Maxine Greene who is a strong advocate for authentic experience through the arts with the end goal of self discovery and social change. "Through the arts and the process of self-refection, we can realize our individual part of the collective whole." Why? - To increase individual inquiry - To provide authentic experience - To discover potential - To unlock the imagination - To fully and freely pursue oneself - To impact the world around you - To change the world around you

After graduating with a performance degree from the University of Queensland in 1994, I enjoyed working as a freelance violinist and singer, appearing with the former Queensland Philharmonic Orchestra as well as chamber ensembles such as the Vodi Piano Trio. I currently perform as violinist with the Sinfonia of St Andrews and the Queensland Pops Orchestra. In 2000 I earned a Master of Music in Performance from the Queensland Conservatorium and more recently acquired a Diploma of Learning and Teaching.
I live on acres of beautiful Australian Bushland in the Western Suburbs of Brisbane with my husband Carson (also a musician), my son Thomas, 18 (budding philosopher, physicist and musician), my daughter Lucy, 15 (Cellist and fashion guru), cat Sasha and puppy Rufus.
