TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Welcome! My name is Hannah Wadsworth and I am a certified secondary English language arts teacher. I taught 7th and 8th grade ELA in a wonderful, globally diverse public school just south of Seattle, WA. There, I further supported student learning as Department Head, House Team Lead, and JV Girls Soccer Coach. Currently, I am a National Board Certified Teacher in English Language Arts/Early Adolescence. I am a Field Coach and Adjunct Instructor in a Master in Teaching program—I coach teacher candidates during their student teaching internships and teach an ELA Instructional Methods course. These roles keep me in classrooms regularly, where I get to listen to teachers and students share their wants and needs for their learning. The resources in my store are inspired by these needs! They are then designed by taking into account my ongoing research on instructional best practices, neuroscience, and culturally responsive teaching.

MY TEACHING STYLE

As a classroom teacher, instructional coach, and curriculum developer, every decision I make is informed by these three questions: 1). Does this center students in their learning? 2). Is it culturally responsive? 3). Will it work to move students and communities furthest from social justice towards equitable opportunities and outcomes?

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

One last thing: you'll often hear me encourage educators to "read and teach diverse books." It's my motto and it means a lot to me as an educator and parent myself. Here's why. When I talk about diverse books, I mean books that individually and collectively represent an inclusive range of identities. My goal is to help you teach lessons and units centered on a diverse range of texts so that every single one of your students sees themselves in your curriculum.
