TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I began teaching eleven years ago after being a stay at home mom. I began as a math coach and progressed to teaching in the 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade regular education and special education classrooms as well as Algebra I.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I focus on forming meaningful relationships with my students to gain their trust and understand how I can teach them best. So many students come to middle school with the notion that they "can't do math" and I aim to show them that learning math is fun and every student is good at something when it comes to pre-algebra skills. I keep students actively engaged in a variety of learning and discovery activities and try to make each class different from the previous day. I try to incorporate technology as much as possible - middle schoolers love it! Most recently, I have focused on incorporating stations into my classes to provide for specific remediation and enrichment. I am always looking for new teaching strategies and activities for today's ever-changing students.
