Melo Math and More

Hello and Bonjour! My name is Sarah Melo (pronounced "mellow"), and I am a teacher, researcher and mom of three awesome kids! I have taught Grades 4 and 5 French immersion and have past-experience as a math resource teacher and school counselor. I graduated with my Master's degree in Math Education where I coached parents on how to help their kids at home in a fun and interactive way to prevent math problems later in school.

I have returned to my Grade 4 and 5 French immersion teacher role and bring my experience as a parent, counselor, math resource teacher and researcher to my students! I have changed how I teach math and I believe that anyone can learn math at anytime! For teachers, I believe that teaching math can be made simple and if we work together with parents, then children can succeed. If children are behind, we have to start from where they are at and build math concepts up step-by-step. The earlier we start, the better and easier it is for our students!

I am the CEO and founder of www.melomath4kids.ca where I post math videos of my kids to teach math in a fun and "mellow" way during every day family activities in both English and French. For parents to teach their kids math, I suggest to watch a video anytime and start TALKING! Use fingers, food, games and toys and practice all the time! The most important thing is to HAVE FUN!
