My six years of teaching have provided me with the unique experience of working with students from Kindergarten to College. My full time position is in a 5th grade classroom. However, with an additional degree in Mathematics I spend almost as much time tutoring students of all ages up through college in math and other content areas.
I design all my lessons to engage every type of learner. I use technology to help stretch across all modalities. From listening, speaking, gesturing and seeing my students are engaged to use every sense when learning.
I have been asked to present at the National School Board Association Annual Conference to demonstrate how I take a hands on approach to mathematics in my classroom. I ran a math enrichment program for students in Grades 1-5 and developed hands on math labs for 5th graders.
As a 5th grader I knew I wanted to become a teacher. After High School I pursued my career at St. Joesph's College. I earned 5 certifications while completing my undergraduate degree. I am now certified to teach from birth to 6th grade in both general and special education. I hold an additional Mathematics certification for grades 7-12. After completing my undergraduate degree I continued on to earn a Masters in Literacy and a Literacy Certification.
I love my job! I love to re create the wheel and make things that are useful and fun. I thoroughly enjoy using technology to capture my students and help them love learning.
