Developed Critical Thinking Course for students and working adults Directed staff development program, Long Lane School, a juvenile justice correctional facility under CT Department of Children and Families, Middletown, CT Consulted with administrators, department heads, and managers regarding supervision and training needs. Designed and implemented curriculumat Long Lane in: Group Facilitation Skills; Ethics In The Workplace; Supervisory courses such as Teambuilding and Communication for Supervisors; Time management; Leadership and Delegation for Supervisors; Problem Solving; Personal Goal Setting; Stress Management; and, Cultural Diversi¬ty. Developed system-wide needs assessments.

I usually follow the 4Mat learning style as designed by AboutLearning.com and follow the philosophy of David Kolb a well. My teaching is highly experiential with a lot of small group work and individual activities.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Melvin Charles Hathorn was born in Wilmington, Delaware. He is currently an instructor at Albertus Magnus College and is a historic Interpreter at the Mark Twain House in Hartford, Connecticut. His career included teaching on a variety of levels from elementary school through college. As a former training officer for the State of Connecticut, he has developed several training courses for juvenile correction staff. His publications are many, including three novels, as well as several short stories and articles that are on his website, www.authorsden.com/mel.
