TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I currently teach Algebra 1 and Geometry in a suburb of St. Louis, Missouri. I am in my 12th year of teaching. I previously taught middle and high school math for 10 years in Jacksonville, Florida. I was recently recognized as one of the five finalists for Duval County Teacher of the Year in a district of more than 8,000 teachers.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My classroom focuses on hands-on learning and active engagement. I love to disguise math as something students like to do. I love to use puzzles because it encourages mathematical discourse and allows students to self-correct their answers as they work.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I was recently recognized as one of the five finalists for Duval County Teacher of the Year in a district of more than 8,000 teachers. I was also selected as the runner up for the Carnegie Learning Leader by Doing Award 2014.
