For most of the past 10 years, I've taught third grade and have used Writing Workshop and Reading Workshop. Over the years I've been able to fine-tune my lessons, assessment tools, and units to really reach my learners in a thoughtful and exciting way. I pride myself on my planning skills and my organization. It's almost to a fault! I've made charts for almost everything and have rubrics for every writing unit I've ever taught.
I try to be as much of a facilitator as I can be. I spend the least amount of time in a lesson teaching. The most time is spent with students reading, writing, researching, and solving problems.
My classroom was featured in the book, Conferring with Readers: Supporting Each Student’s Growth and Independence, written by Jennifer Serravallo.

I live with my husband, two young daughters and an adorable dog. My whole family is in education. My husband is a principal at one of our local elementary schools. My brother is a university professor as is my father. My mother taught Pre-K for umpteen years and my aunt just retired from a great independent school in Washington, DC. I love to plan and organize. When I'm not playing with my daughters, that's exactly what you can find me doing! I also love to read but since having kids I have mostly read books like, The Happiest Toddler on the Block and Potty Training 101! In addition to teaching and being a mom, I tutor two adorable boys.
