TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have over 20 years of experience working in education. My experience has not been limited to traditional classrooms. I have also taught 12-18 year old adolescents in a drug and rehabilitation center and adults in a community college. Additionally, I worked as the head librarian for 4 years in a K-8 school. I have had the opportunity to create lessons and instruct students from pre-kindergarten to college on a variety of subjects. After a long hiatus as a stay-at-home mom, I have spent the last 10 years teaching Literature and English to 7th and 8th grade students. I'm currently teaching Adv. English to 8th grade students.

MY TEACHING STYLE

One thing I noticed when I returned to the classroom after being a stay at home mom is that students do not have the attention spans they did years ago. My teaching style is a work-in-progress that is constantly evolving to meet the needs of middle school students. My goal is to create challenging and relevant content that encourages critical thinking and engagement. I am working to create materials that use current trends and topics to address the reading, writing, listening and speaking skills that are required of English classrooms.
