I have taught English in the Bay Area and Sacramento, as well as worked on several curriculum building panels. Before I became a teacher, I worked as an Autism Behavioral Tutor and as an aid in a Special Day Class for high school students.
I believe in relating everything we do in class to the world around us and to my students' own lives. If students are interested in a topic they are more willing to learn and practice the skills they need to succeed in the world. After almost every activity and unit, I have my student engage in reflections so that they can think about what they learned and so that I can discover what I can do to make the lesson or unit better next time. I strongly believe in giving my students practical skills, like critical thinking, that will benefit them in the real world.
