TEACHING EXPERIENCE

We are a partnered store. Katie is the designer and Nikki is the teacher. We've been friends for a long time and this is a fun way to put both our skills to use. Nikki is on her 11th year teaching 6th grade Language Arts and Social Studies. She taught many levels from Special Education, Remedial reading classes all the way to Honor and Gifted classes. Nikki says, "I love teaching so much I currently serve as my school's Learning Coach, where I help new and veteran teachers achieve their greatest potential. This year I will also train and serve as a Digital Literacy Coach. I am endorsed in Teaching Technology and K-12 Reading."

MY TEACHING STYLE

I'm not sure if there is a style called "loud crazy learning," but if there is- that's my classroom. The only time I require quiet learning is during independent reading and even then--the students are up and moving as needed. I mostly follow a to-with-by approach so my students have access to one-on-one attention. Right now I teach a Co-Taught class with a Sped Teacher and we are perfecting the "Least restrictive environment" theory and have found a lot of success with our students.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I have a teaching degree from Southern Utah University along with a bachelors degree in Sociology. I have a minor in social studies, so the upper elementary grades have always appealed to me. I do have a reading endorsement and a Teaching Technology endorsement.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Nikki a mom to 4 beautiful children and her husband works as a vice principal/athletic director at a high school. So they look forward to summers :) Katie is a graphic designer and mom of 4 little boys.
