I have taught elementary school for 10 years. I spent my first 3 years teaching first grade before moving to Kindergarten, which is where my heart and passion are! I teach at a Title I (high poverty) elementary school. At our school, we thrive on teamwork and collaboration! We believe in teaching the whole child and holding high expectations for each learner. We have high student success rates and have won many awards for our ability to close achievement gaps and raise test scores despite our students' diverse backgrounds. I serve on our school's leadership/school improvement team. I also represent our school on our district's Teacher Advisory Council, and serve on the disctrict's Kindergarten Readiness committee at our local Pre-K.
I strongly believe in teaching the whole child. I put a lot of focus on building relationships with my students and making learning fun for them.
I am a National Board certified teacher. I have won Outstanding Young Educator for my school twice during my career.
I attended Meredith College in Raleigh, NC where I earned a degree in Early Childhood Development with a K-6 Teaching Licensure.
