TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Currently in my fourth year of teaching Advanced Ninth Grade English and have taught three years of Speech and Debate at Stanhope Elmore High School. Completed Internship in 9th grade Pre-AP Literature and 12th grade AP Literature at Pelham High School.

MY TEACHING STYLE

A consistent blend of direct instruction, directed reading, and socratic discussion.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Served on Elmore County's Teacher Advisory Team 2020-2021. Served on Elmore County's Textbook Selection Committee in 2022. Served on Elmore County's Strategic Planning Committee in 2022. Served on Elmore County's Curriculum Transition Team in 2022. Elected Senior Elite Student of the English department of the University of Montevallo. Member of Sigma Tau Delta English honor society. Named to the President's list of academic achievement each semester of college study.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Montevallo with a B.A. in English with double minors in Writing and Theatre and an honor's certificate. Graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Montevallo with a Master's in Education.

My goal is to make my teaching style as fun as possible; not because school MUST be fun for students to take their education seriously, but because it is true that if you love what you do, you never work a day in your life. And I have FUN in my classroom. :)
