TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been teaching elementary music (Kindergarten through sixth grade) for over 30 years including three years at the middle school level. My experience includes: Orff ensembles, drumming ensembles, choir, recorder ensembles, handbells, handchimes, group piano, general music and private voice lessons. I have a true passion for working with students! However, I also love mentoring student teachers and presenting to music teachers and music organizations.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Children of today are very active. When I plan lessons, I actively involve all the children in the learning process. Music is not just sitting in a chair and singing song after song. Students should experience music in a variety of ways. Singing, listening, creating, playing instruments, drumming, movement, melody, and rhythm are just a few of the options used to reach students. "Tell me, I forget. Show me, I remember. Involve me, I understand." Carl Orff

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Bachelors of Music Education, Masters in School Leadership and Administration, Orff-Schulwerk Certification: Level One, Level Two, Level Three (UNLV with Judy Sills) and Masters Level (ASU with Rob Amchin).

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION
