For the past 13 years I've been lucky enough to share my love of literature and writing with 6-8th graders. During that time, I have served as a curriculum writer for both my district and school and have taught every type of student from the over-achieving honors student to a student barely hanging on.
My hope for each day is that my students buy into what I'm trying to sell them. That they become passionate about learning through text and expressing themselves the same way. I create lessons with my brother in mind. He needed more than the sit-and-get style of teaching and needed activities that challenged him in different ways other that just being more work. Each one of my lessons seeks to scaffold the student's thinking in a way that each level of learner's needs are met- and that they enjoy it and find a purpose in their learning.
