On my journey to my Doctorate of Education, I have had the experience of teaching in the classroom for ten years and alongside the best teachers in the nation. I have expanded my knowledge beyond the music classroom where I had my beginnings to include history and technology.
I believe that all children have the desire to learn but it is our job as teachers to find what interests them and inspires their learning. My lessons usually incorporate creativity, individuality, and topics often not found in the classroom but that grab the interest of students.
Created a music program where every child entering 6th grade could read rhythms up to 16th notes counting aloud and the entire treble clef! I remember the moment the 6th-grade band teacher came in shock to know every child had some knowledge of reading music. I wanted to build a music program where every child in the school had some background to open more avenues for creativity as they went through grade school and to help those going to college get that fine art credit!
Graduate of Drury University with a Degree in Music Education and Masters Degree in instructional technology Specialist Degree SBU Ph.D.
I currently stay home with my son. I enjoy watching his learning process from a completely new perspective as a parent. My husband and I have rural property and have been very blessed to have our parents close. I have enjoyed teaching private lessons and tutoring over the years and have a special relationship with my former parents/students. I love providing interesting and innovative lessons to others and hope one day my son experiences having an inspiring teacher himself!
