I have worked with kids for the majority of my adult life. I have focused mostly on pre-k through elementary, but have worked in high-school classrooms as well. I am also a homeschooling mom to three kids all currently in elementary school.
I have a "facilitator model" teaching style. I like for students to be hands on and use activities to learn. I want my students to have some responsibility over their learning. I think problem solving with others is a key skill that is necessary throughout life. I am not a fan of repetitive worksheets or busy work. Kids learn the most through play and I try to incorporate as much play as possible into my teaching.
Graduated Summa Cum Laude from Texas State University! I also have a mug that says "World's Best Mom".
I started out my freshman year at SDSU and attempted to do it all - full time student, work, and on the SDSU Women's Crew Team. I quickly burnt out and decided to take a much slower approach to my college education. I enrolled at Grossmont Community College the following year and finished my associates degree. After the first semester back at SDSU, I learned that my husband had been hired at a new company half way across the country. While I waited to become a resident of Texas I spent time being a 'Play-at-Home' mommy. In the Fall of 2016 I graduated with my BS in General Studies with an emphasis in English, Psychology, and Sociology. I now spend my time homeschooling my three kids, teaching in co-ops, and working in a day care.
I am a homeschooling mommy to three wildly cute kiddos, and wife to a very creative and funny guy. I enjoy anything that requires creativity: crafting, music, theater, dancing, etc. I like drinking coffee, teaching Zumba(R), and sleeping. :)
