TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I am beginning my 2nd year in the classroom with a fabulous group of 6th graders! I teach 6th grade ELA at Jackson County Middle School in Gainesboro, Tennessee. Having completed my training in the elementary setting, 6th grade was a positive challenge for me. I love my grade level and my team of teachers at JCMS and have high hopes for our future!

MY TEACHING STYLE

I tend to teach more mini lessons and centers than lecture. I like for students to be involved and responsible in the classroom. My ELA partner and I like to use visuals, movement, and technology in our classrooms. I strongly believe that you have to have a connection with your students before they will learn from you, so I try to encourage "structured fun"in my classroom. Students know their expectations in the classroom and are expected to meet those expectations daily.
