TEACHING EXPERIENCE

For my entire life, I have been called to the field of education. From time spent in family members classrooms as a young child, to an internship in a local middle school during my senior year of high school, to student teaching in college, and now my own classroom, I have always felt most at home within the walls of a school. While I always knew that I would become an educator, it wasn’t until middle school when I learned to love the world of mathematics. One of my mathematics teachers in middle school taught with such passion, that she lit a fire within me, urging me to pursue this same path. From that day forward, I knew that I was being called to share my love of mathematics and all its real-world applications with students just like I once was. Public education provided me with the ability to learn and grow, so when I graduated with my degree in mathematics education, I knew that the only place for me to go was right back into the community that had nurtured me throughout my education. My goal as a public educator is not only to teach mathematics to students, but also to teach them to love learning and to appreciate the mathematics in the world around them. Becoming a teacher has been more than just a profession for me, it has been a platform for sharing my passion with all my students.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe in teaching mathematics to ALL students. In order to do this, students must be engaged in their learning an teachers must be willing to adapt their teaching style based on the needs of the students. I approach my math classroom with a clear vision: Rigor, Relevance, Relationships By focusing on these three elements, math becomes possible for ALL students.
