TEACHING EXPERIENCE

¡Hola! My name is Danielle Wilson. I currently teach Spanish 1 at a unique middle school that houses 8th and 9th grade students. I have previously taught Spanish 1-3 in a traditional 9th-12th grade high school. I currently serve as the substitute principal in our building when both administrators need to be out. I also run our district's New Teacher Academy, which was designed and implemented by myself and a group of fellow teacher leaders!

MY TEACHING STYLE

I am a firm believer in relationships first! My classroom is bright, and there is almost always music playing. I believe in a student centered approach and high engagement activities! I believe in student choice, flexibility, and treating teenagers like the young adults that they are. My teaching and lessons reflect these beliefs.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Phi Mu Fraternity's "30 Under 30" Award for "young alumnae who are movers and shakers in their professional life or who have made a positive impact through their commitment to service."

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I graduated with honors from Grand Valley State University with Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and Psychology. During my junior year, I study abroad in Viña del Mar, Chile. My teaching endorsement in Secondary Education is from The University of Michigan-Dearborn. Recently, I graduated from Wayne State University with a Masters of Education in Educational Leadership.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

A little more about me: I live in Michigan, and love the four seasons, but really only like snow on Christmas and Snow Days. I am recently married to my husband, Joey, who is a Director of Golf at a local course (hello, opposite work schedules). We both enjoy traveling. I truly love organizing; in fact, if I wasn't a teacher, I'd probably try to open up an organizing business. I absolutely love working with new teachers! I cannot wait to see where my passion for working with new teachers takes me in my career.
