I have taught in many settings - suburban and rural high schools, an urban middle school, and currently in an alternative high school. My current position teaching in an alternative high school has given me invaluable experience working with at risk students. I strive to engage students of all learning styles, and support struggling learners. Working in alternative ed I have learned that engaging meaningful science labs do not have to require expensive equipment. There are so many things you can do with items from the grocery store!
I prefer a hands on model of teaching. Teaching in alternative education requires differentiated instruction because students are at many different levels.
