TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 6th grades as a regular education teacher. I have also taught grades 1-5 as an Intervention Specialists. I have worked at schools ranging from Title One to a university laboratory school. I have also written arts curriculum for Granite School District and the Utah State Office of Education.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Laura Reina is currently the Response to Intervention Teacher at Edith Bowen Laboratory School. She received her Bachelors degree from the University of Utah and then went on to pursue a Masters in Teaching Mathematics. She has an endorsement in Gifted & Talented, Dance, and Drama. Throughout her career she has taught 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 6th grades at several schools in Salt Lake City. Laura’s true passion comes from incorporating the arts into everyday curriculum and teaching in a creative style. In 2007 she headed a committee to write an Arts Integration curriculum for the Granite School District Interconnections program. She also created the “10-Minute Transitions†for Visual Arts for the Utah State Office of Education. She trained teachers across the state to use art in their classroom daily. She worked at William Penn Elementary in Salt Lake City Utah where she served as Arts Facilitator, Data Specialist, 5th Grade teacher, as well as serving on many other committees. One of Laura’s passions is directing the school musical. She has produced thirteen school musicals, as well as an original play in her grade each year. She has directed and choreographed a wide range of productions from “Jungle Bookâ€, and “Seussicalâ€, to “Into the Woods†and “Annieâ€. She balances her creativity with a strong commitment to teaching math and science and instilling in her students a passion to learn.
