Laura Petillo, Ed.D., is a teacher, author, and administrator with a passion for early childhood education. Currently, Dr. Petillo is the music programs manager for the Count Basie Center for the Arts in Red Bank, New Jersey. She has over 10 years of experience in preschool and prekindergarten as well as music education grades K–12. Her articles have been published in Education Week, Edutopia, and the New Zealand Journal of Educational Studies. Her dissertation on Equity in Kindergarten Readiness will be published in Spring of 2023.
Dr. Petillo is a caring and creative educator whose early childhood and music teaching started in 2006. She has worked with students of all ages, abilities, levels, and believes all students can achieve great things with support and meaningful connections to the content. Dr. Petillo has tried to make all educational content, from pre-k literature, to advanced high school violin repertoire, relatable and relevant for her students.
In 2020, she received the Excellence in Music Education award, and won the 2020 Scholarship Exhibition in Proposed Research from Monmouth University.
