TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught 6th-, 7th-, and 8th-grade ELA, Reading Improvement, and 7th-grade Pre-AP ELA. I have taught for 15 years and have a master's degree in literacy. I have served as a district secondary ELA strategist and am now a Reading Specialist and Scottish Rite-trained Dyslexia Therapist.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I love making learning fun, competitive, and memorable.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I have the honor of meeting and getting to know dozens of fantastic kids every school year.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Journalism degree from University of Houston; ELAR certification from A+ Texas Teachers; Master's degree in curriculum & instruction/literacy from UTA Reading Specialist and Master Reading Teacher certification Dyslexia Therapist Training from Scottish Rite

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I am now an award-winning author! My debut novel, Sitting on Top of the World, was awarded the Eric Hoffer Book Awards First Horizon Award and the YA category first place, AND it made the Grand Prize shortlist! Check it out on Goodreads! The sequel, Under the Pawpaw Trees, is now available everywhere books are sold online. I put a lot of thought into the products I create for school and for TPT. I have a background in newspaper design, so I work hard to make worksheets and printables pleasing to the eye and reader-friendly. I print out all of my products before submitting them, and if something doesn't look right, I work on it until it does. Little by little, I am learning the technical side of using TPT, and I truly hope that my products are helpful and useful to someone, somewhere. Thank you so much for looking at my store!
