I teach 2nd grade in a high poverty school in Virginia. I have been at the same school and in 2nd grade for 5 complete years.
I want my students to be hands on learners. Incorporating hands on activities in my daily routine is crucial to my student's success.
Teacher of Promise 2009 as a senior in college. I have been awarded more than $10,000 in grants from our local education foundation and Donorschoose.org
I grew up in upstate NY and northwestern NJ. I went to K-2 grade in NY and then moved to NJ and attended the same elementary school through 6th grade. I then moved on to our regional jr/sr high school where I became involved in a ton of afterschool activities which brought me out of my shell. I went on to attend Liberty University and graduate with a degree in special and elementary education. I knew from the time I was in kindergarten that I wanted to be an Elementary School teacher, and I love every minute of it!!! :)
I am the middle of 3 children (for my mom--youngest for my dad). I got my teaching position 2 days before I graduated in the same city that I went to college in so I moved to VA full time completely on my own right after college, it has taught me how to be independent. I can relate to a lot of the things my students go through. When I was growing up school was my safe place and I want to provide that safe, loving environment for each of my students as well!!! **My picture is from a trip I went on to work in an orphanage in Haiti!
