I have been teaching for 4 years now mainly in 4th grade! I have also taught 2nd grade. Two years, I have been in a self contained classroom teaching all subjects to one class. The other two years I taught only math and science.
As an educator, my teaching style is centered around putting relationships first and nurturing a genuine love for learning among my students. I understand the importance of building strong connections with my students, recognizing that when they feel valued and supported, they are more likely to thrive academically and emotionally. My passion for math and science shines through in my teaching style. I love the fascination and wonder that these subjects hold, and I am committed to sharing that enthusiasm with my students. I understand that hands-on experiences are key to deepening students' understanding, and I embrace the interactive and experimental nature of science, incorporating engaging experiments and activities to make learning come alive. I believe that when students have the opportunity to observe, hypothesize, experiment, and draw conclusions themselves, they become active participants in their learning journey. This hands-on approach not only cultivates a deeper understanding of scientific principles but also fosters a genuine love for learning in my students.
Austin ISD Teacher of Promise 2019
I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2019 with a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education. I am certified to teach PK-6th grade ESL.
I have loved teaching and growing as an educator. Building relationships and growing my resources for math and science have been two of my favorite things as an educator. I hope you LOVE these resources as much as I do and you see your students grow in their math and science knowledge! Please email me at kourtney.kubena@yahoo.com if you find an error or have any questions! Please leave a review as well! That always helps fellow teachers find helpful resources!
