TEACHING EXPERIENCE I’m Jen, your go-to girl for early Gifted, Special Education, early childhood inspiration and research-based curriculum. You’re not in this alone. After teaching for 15 years in Gifted Education, General Education early childhood, and preschool classrooms, I am here to create Gifted content, center based, play-based activities, resources, and curriculum to make teaching easier, effective, and fun for you and your students. I'm here to help you unleash your Imagination and make teaching and learning magical! You're not in this alone.
Teaching is HARD! I want to exist to make your life easier. I want to inspire, create and pour my heart and soul into my craft with Kid's Imagination Station Studios, Inc. I taught using Whole-Brain teaching and I ditched the Clip chart years ago. Children learn by motivation and positive rewards. It's ALL about relationships. We have an innate need to connect as humans. Our life as we know its exists because we have someone in our lives to help us through the days and grow as learners. I am the teacher that inspires us to create, and enjoy being in school.
I'm a proud graduate of Saint Petersburg College with a Bachelor's in Elementary Education K-6, ESOL Endorsed, Gifted Endorsed, Pre-K-3 Certified, K-12 Art Certification, and I am currently working towards passing my Reading Endorsement test. It's pretty challenging, and I have test anxiety just like many of our students. I specialize in developing content for Special Education particularly Gifted and high functioning Autism Spectrum students. I also have a Master's Degree from American College of Education in Educational Leadership.
I am a special learner myself, as I am a twice exceptional Gifted Learner. I was diagnosed with Auditory Processing Disorder and Gifted when I was a child. At the time, my educators didn't know what to do with me. I often spent time up in the principal's office for talking and being off task because I didn't have enough work to complete and I was bored. My needs were not being met in the classroom as a child due to my exceptionalities. Thus, my passion was born. I wanted to be a teacher from the time I was a little girl and playing school with my stuffed animals. While other girls were busy playing with dolls, I had a fascination with nature and was outside a lot studying frogs, lizards, and butterflies. Most of my friends growing up were boys and I was definitely a Tomboy because we could relate more with our interests than girls.
I've been in education for over 15 years. I've spent 11 years working with Gifted children. I have a Master's in Educational Leadership, and I love to be creative and make content that is rigorous for Gifted and Talented students. I love my family! I have 2 Golden Retrievers, Two Yorkies, African Ciclid Fish and a Bearded Dragon. I'm married to an awesome husband who is a business owner himself and supports my dream of creating content. I also have two kids that are already teens now and that's scary! I love Starwars, Harry Potter, traveling, art, and all things magical.
