North Carolina, South Carolina, and Texas certified Teaching with a plan is always the BEST plan. The experience of traditional brick-and-mortar schools compared to online schools is vastly different, and our learners are incredibly diverse! With over thirteen years of dedicated teaching experience, I’ve embraced the challenge of curriculum development, striving to understand and teach the whole learner. My journey in education began with a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, and has evolved to include a deep exploration of how biological principles impact children's learning processes. As educators, we must support one another in navigating the transition from traditional teaching methods to a more expansive digital learning environment. My experience has shown me the importance of adapting and growing alongside our students to create enriching, inclusive, and effective educational experiences.
The various teaching styles that encourage learners to engage in positive learning experiences are digitally adaptable. Modeling ways to share virtually is my preferred teaching method. The rapid acceleration of information consumption calls for a teaching style that can keep pace with each learner, which is why I focus on adaptable and dynamic approaches.
Throughout my academic journey, I have been honored with several prestigious awards and memberships. I am a proud recipient of the Chancellor’s Scholarship and have been recognized as an All-American Collegiate Scholar. Consistently achieving high academic standards, I have been named to the Dean's List multiple times. I am also a member of Beta Kappa Chi, the National Honor Society, and Kappa Delta Phi Honor Society.
My educational journey has been both rigorous and rewarding, culminating in a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the American College of Education in Indiana, where I achieved a GPA of 3.71. This advanced degree, earned between 2017 and 2018, has equipped me with cutting-edge strategies to enhance digital learning and curriculum development. Prior to this, I completed my Bachelor’s degree in Biology with a minor in Chemistry at Fayetteville State University in North Carolina, where I laid a strong foundation in the sciences from 1999 to 2002. These experiences have profoundly shaped my approach to teaching and my commitment to fostering a dynamic and inclusive learning environment.
My primary focus in education has been on middle school and early high school, specifically teaching 6th to 10th grade. Who doesn't love solving equations? Equations are my absolute favorite topic, and I have developed exciting methods to teach everything from one-step equations to exponential equations! On a personal note, I am also a certified personal trainer and nutrition specialist, currently pursuing my Ed.D. in Public Health. This diverse background complements my deep exploration of how biological principles impact children's learning processes, allowing me to integrate wellness and academic excellence in my teaching.
