I started in education as a paraprofessional in a behavior program at my local elementary school. My classroom supported students with severe behavioral and emotional needs in 3rd and 4th grade. I accepted a position as a paraprofessional at another school in a classroom for students with Austism Spectrum Disorder. We supported grades PK - 3rd. I completed my degree in Special Education in December 2019 and stepped into my role as a General Education teacher in 4th grade that January. I have only ever taught in a pandemic and it has been a wild ride!
I believe that teachers should make learning accessible in a variety of ways for what works best for their students. Build relationships is always my first goal. Meeting students where they are is my next. Meeting educational goals looks different for each student and I strive to advocate for the needs of each student individually. Education should be fun and engaging while offering students a wide variety of ways to demonstrate their mastery and dig deeper into their own understanding.

I am a mom to 5 beautiful children and a teacher to "my other kids" in 4th grade! My husband is also a teacher/coach for 7th and 8th grade. We both come from a long line of teachers or healers and love what we do! In addition to the children, we have 2 dogs, 1 cat and 3 guinea pigs - because what fun is life without a circus?!?
