I have 16 years of experience as a classroom teacher and am currently teaching KG2. I love creating resources to provide child-centred and engaging ways for children to develop and consolidate their learning.
Teaching reading and foundational literacy skills is my passion. I like to create a secure, structured and enriching classroom environment for my students. I feel it is important to meet each child at their level, and to provide the necessary scaffolding for them to move to the next stage of their learning journey.
I graduated Cum Laude from the University where I studied my Bachelors Degree. Within each school in which I have held the following positions of responsibility: Literacy Coordinator (Pre-K - Gr 7) Head of Grade (Grade 1) Head of Phase (Pre-K - Grade 3) and Deputy Head of an Independent Primary School
I studied a Bachelor of Primary Education, specializing in Foundation Phase (Grade R/KG - Grade 3).
I am married and have a son who is in his final year of high school. I loved reading to him as he was growing up, and supporting him in his journey of learning to read. I have 15 years of teaching experience in South Africa (ranging from 4 year-olds to 8 year-olds). This year I relocated to Dubai where I am now teaching KG2 within an American Curriculum school.
