TEACHING EXPERIENCE

This will be my 6th year teaching 2nd grade! Time flies... I teach 2nd grade and have been lucky to collaborate with the University of NH graduate program. This will be my 3rd year working with a grad-level intern in my classroom.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I believe in a safe, caring environment that encourages kids to take risks and simply try their best. I pull from a variety of what I feel are "best practices" --from responsive classroom to Lucy Calkins and the Daily 5/sisters to name a few.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

My school was recently awarded school of Excellence in NH! Proud to work at a place that supports the craft of teaching and creativity and autonomy in curriculum development and teaching style.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I have a background in early childhood and elementary education from the University of NH. I graduated with my masters in 2008 and interned in a 1st grade classroom. Since then I have stayed in 2nd grade. It is a dream age-no two days are the same!

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Recently married (June 29th)...not sure what I was thinking being end of the year and all. Now in need of a new challenge as I am having withdrawals from wedding planning. :) I find myself on TPT finding lots of great ideas from other teachers and figured I would give it a try. It is important to support each other & the teaching profession rather than big printing companies. Check back for more items this summer!
