MY TEACHING STYLE

Even though we have large ensembles (100+ students!), I make it a point to create autonomous thinkers. Students gain independence in practice by breaking down musical elements and learning step-by-step. Together we make personal and group goals and assess each other throughout the year. Most importantly, we get the chance to create a beautiful performance at the end of each unit. My students also love the fact that this is the only class in which they receive an "A" for making "noise!"

30 Acoustic guitars awarded from grant proposal to start free guitar lessons after school~ $1400 Baritone grant funded from Donorschoose.org~ Star Walker for AIDS WALK New York Award in education from Tourette Syndrome Association
