I have taught General Music for 24 years at the middle school level. I teach piano (18 years). I also teach Middle School Chorus (15 years). I teach guitar as well ( 4 years).

I prefer to teach with students in an active, highly engaged class. I usually start by reviewing a concept then extend learning on that concept (usually with a quick activity) to reinforce the content. I then proceed to a piece of music to apply the concept. Next, I either review the content taught or use a variety of assessments to ensure all students have mastered the content to the best of their abilities.

All degrees in music. EKU Rank III- BME- Instrumental. Main instrument: Trumpet. EKU Rank II- Main focus is instrumental but I took a few chorus classes. KY Rank I- Continuing Education Option- National Standards focus involving integrating piano curriculum into a General Music Class.

My 200+ page classroom piano songbook is complete. It is a very unique piano book designed for beginner to level 3 students. The mp3s are complete for the sheet music. Accompaniment mp3 arrangements for 67 pieces will take a while, only two-thirds done and have almost three year old twins, plus had cancerous tumor removed in August 2022.
