I have been educating children since 2008! It seems like just yesterday I was graduating from college! I've taught grades K-4 but definitely found my passion in the primary grades. I love teaching, creating materials, exploring resources, and collaborating with other teachers! Any chance I have to create something engaging and purposeful, I'm game!
I am certainly a "think outside the box" type of teacher. I love taking books and creating activities to go right along with them in order for students to attach their learning to something they will remember! I'm also a HUGE advocate for hands on learning, holding students accountable for their work and part in the learning process, and discovery learning-including STEM education and inquiry based learning.
*National Board Certified Teacher since 2017 *Teacher of the Year 2016-17 School Year *Model Teacher for Beginning Teachers in the District *Green Apple Distinguished Teacher 2011-12 School Year
I attended California University in PA where I recieved a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education in grades K-6. Since then, I've taught in Clarksville, TN for 3 years, and relocated to North Carolina, where I was lucky enough to be in my happy place of second grade!
I love designing materials to use in and out of the classroom and have been doing so since I was simply a college student! I think it's so important to plan with the end in mind and I think the materials I've created aligning with education standards for (mostly) primary grades show just that!
