I am currently in teaching third grade at a public school and have taught 3rd and 4th grade in previous years. I had a fulfilling experience in my undergrad student teaching in 6th grade in Baltimore City as well.
I am extremely enthusiastic about teaching and I believe the best way to teach is to engage and capture your students' minds from the start. I always love to begin my lessons with a brief activity that draws in their attention to the objective I'm about to teach. I also believe that students thrive on positive reinforcement and from my experiences, especially with my 6th graders, I have seen it move mountains. In order to get respect from my students, I know I must give it and building that safe and trusting environment is the foundation in which I teach.
As teachers, we know gloating is not one of our strong suits but I was very proud of myself for receiving the "Teacher of Promise" in 2012 from MSDE.
I graduated from Towson University through the Elementary Education program and I am currently in graduate school for a Master's degree in Reading K-12.
I am recently married and I have three adorable cats, one of which is named after Pinocchio's Figaro (and just as adorable). My husband, family, and friends have been extremely supportive of my teaching career and I love the idea of sharing and exchanging ideas through TPT!
