I wear many educational hats – as a classroom teacher, administrator, author and educational consultant. I specializes in administrative and instructional technologies, grants and funding procurement, instructional program development, emerging technologies, makerspaces and 3D printing. I have consulted for major hardware and software computer companies and have written extensively for Tech&Learning magazine. I was one of the first educators to provide content for AOL and the Scholastic Network. In the last five years, along with two colleagues, wrote a series of books on STEM and STEAM for elementary grades. The books are on Amazon and digital versions are here on TPT, along with other digital materials.
I see myself as a facilitator of student learning. My teaching style varies with the activity. The STEM/STEAM lessons and projects available here on TPT are hands-on and student-centered. Each unit includes a thematic approach to science, technology, engineering and math. Language arts skills develop through each activity that are integral to the unit of instruction. The lessons employ brainstorming techniques to increase student engagement and enhance the student writing process.
I specialize in technology grantwriting and teaching teachers how to integrate technology into their curriculum. I was awarded the Marshall McLuhan Distinguished Teacher Award, the Alhambra Educational Foundation's Service to Education Award and the California School Boards Association's Golden Bell. I am also an Apple Distinguished Educator.
I earned my Bachelors, Masters and Doctoratal degrees.
