TEACHING EXPERIENCE

5 years teaching 8th grade U.S. history (until 1877) in Texas I have also taught.. 7th grade texas history 9th grade world geography 9th grade human geography 10th grade World history

MY TEACHING STYLE

I'm a very hands-off teacher, in my experience student-led learning is the best way for students to fully understand topics especially when there is a test as hard as the STAAR at the end of the course. I implement a lot of student creativity and student-choice into my lessons. I love using edpuzzles for my recorded lecture videos so students can go back and listen to the recordings if they are more auditory learners. You can find my videos on my YouTube page (history Homegrown)

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

Highest 8th grade STAAR scores in district and region history, Most amount of students that met or mastered grade level in 2020-21 school year (year of COVID).

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I graduated from Texas Woman's University with a B.S. in History Education

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

I've been married to my best friend since 2016 and we have 2 beautiful children together! I enjoy traveling, skiing, water sports and playing with my children.
