I have been home educating my four children since 2013.
I follow the principles of Charlotte Mason, but I sprinkle my own "special sauce" on our lessons by ensuring that our books have a multicultural perspective.

After wholeheartedly committing to teaching my children at home, I became disheartened when months went by with little mention, if any, of the stories and accomplishments of black people in our school room. The literary quality of the books was better, but I found that the cultural emptiness I experienced as a schoolgirl was being perpetuated within the walls of my own home. Committed to bridging the gap for my four children, I have embarked on a journey of uniquely merging living books with life-giving books to ensure that their education is not a legalistic venture but an honest experience that makes it easy for them to honor themselves and others. I speak, write, and share my observations on education, culture, books, global travel, and more at HeritageMom.com
