TEACHING EXPERIENCE

Welcome to my store! Thank you for visiting! My name is Val and I am entering my fourth year of teaching. I have worked as a media specialist in private schools and have recently transitioned to a technology role at my school. I still LOVE the library and integrate literature when I can. A lot of my experience is teaching in person, but I have also taught students virtually. I am located in Atlanta, Georgia where I have taught in public and private schools. I've worked in libraries where I've had a large budget, and no budget at all! I try to create lessons that address all learners, and make them feel included. My experience has at various schools has given my the pleasure of working with diverse populations where I must create content that reflects my learners.

MY TEACHING STYLE

The Library is for EVERYONE! Why not make it fun? I absolutely love reusing simple material, and scaling it up and down to accomodate my learners. In my store, you'll find a lot of my lessons are project-based that can be used with a wide variety of learners. I love sharing bits and pieces of myself with my students, and hearing about their lives. I use quite a bit of technology, but I still rely heavily on good and reliable paper and pencil! I love integrating technology in the library. One thing about the library is it is constantly changing. I try my best to keep up! I learn from my students and fellow teachers as much as I can. I love hearing new ideas, and I will constantly reinvent and strive to be better.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I have presented at conferences where I've shared my LEGO animation curriculum in depth, and I how I motivate learners to demonstrate their learning through creating artifacts.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

- BA in History & Geography with a focus in American History - MLIS in Library Science with a focus in K-12 Media Studies - Yearly Participation in Professional Development that includes Libraries, Technology and STEM.

ADDITIONAL BIOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION

Diversity, Research, and Appreciation is my top concern. Although I may not have all the answers, I always try to point my students in the direction to find them.
