TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have taught high school math for ten years. In those ten years, I have taught tons of different topics and subjects from algebra 1 to calculus and AP Statistics. I have taught at three different high schools, in two different cities and states.

MY TEACHING STYLE

I try to create lessons and activities that are student-centered. I try to help my students discover patterns, discuss their learning with their groups, and problem solve with math. Teachers are not and should not be the focus of lessons. Students need to do the learning themselves, which makes them the center of the lessons. This is a challenge I try to tackle everyday in my classroom.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I attended public school for grade school. I have a deep respect for what public school does for students, families, and our country. After graduating high school, I attended the University of Kentucky and earned my BA in secondary math education. I immediately began graduate school at the University of Colorado Denver, where I earned my masters in curriculum and instruction with a focus in math. Most recently, I'm back at the University of Kentucky, although online, working on a masters in applied statistics.
