TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have had the privilege of working with sixth, seventh, eighth, eleventh, and twelfth grade students so far in my career. I am also working in a program funded through a RuralLIFE grant that is working to help teachers improve literacy achievement in rural schools. I am currently attending Carson Newman University for my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a Reading Specialist License.

MY TEACHING STYLE

My teaching style focuses on the Socratic Method. I love posing difficult questions and listening to my students reason through a problem aloud. I employ kinesthetic activities and gamification whenever I can, and I try to include a variety of activities within each lesson to maintain student engagement (and let's be honest--my engagement).

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

2012 LMU QEP Writing Award 2017-2018 School Teacher of the Year 2018 U-Trust Grant Recipient

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

Graduated Magna cum Laude with a B.A. in English from Lincoln Memorial University Currently enrolled in Carson Newman University's graduate program.
