I have nine years of teaching experience in public education. I have taught all grade levels, Kindergarten to sixth grade. I taught K-6 Spanish for two years at the beginning of my career. In my third year of teaching I transitioned to teaching 3rd grade. I taught 3rd grade for 5 years before moving to a new school and switching to 4th grade. My first school was textbook free. I created a lot of my own resources for both Spanish and 3rd Grade. I have experience creating relevant resources that are useful for everyday teaching.
As an educator, I believe that hands-on learning and practice is essential for learners from kindergarten to adult. In everyday academia, this means working within a student's zone of proximal development (thank you, Vygotsky) and give them tasks that are doable yet challenging. In language development, I am a firm believer in input + 1 learning; allowing students to go just beyond what they are capable of understanding on their own.
