I taught 2nd and 3rd grade for 5 years before starting my family. At that time, I began homeschooling my four children, and I am proud to say that I homeschooled all four of them from K thru 12th. I also taught other homeschoolers in a co-op setting in several subjects: Latin, Texas History, World History, U.S. History, and elementary and middle school grammar; however, my passion has always been teaching reading/literature.
I loved homeschooling. I wrote much of the curriculum I used to teach my own children how to read. The reading curriculum included fun books, comprehension, games, phonics, writing, crafts, and whatever science or history could be gleaned from the books we were reading. I found that my kids were more interested in reading if I made it enjoyable, so that's what I did. My two oldest have BS degrees in Computer Science, my daughter earned her BSN and is a NICU nurse, and my youngest just finished his freshman year at Texas A&M University; hence, I can proudly say I taught them well!
I am certified to teach 1st - 8th grades with a specialization in reading.
I graduated from Texas A&M University with a BS in Elementary Education and a specialization in Reading.
I love nature and water: rivers, lakes, oceans. I have two small dogs that I love to pamper now that I am an empty nester. Spending time with family is my favorite.
