I spent the first five years of my career teaching Life Science and Health at a middle school in South Central Los Angeles, where I was also the GATE Coordinator. I then moved to Orange County where I began teaching Biology at the high school level. I have taught a wide range of learners, including ELL, Special Education, and Gifted students. I have also spent several years writing science content, lesson plans, and NGSS guides for an educational website and have two little scientists of my own at home.
I believe that students should experience science rather than being told about it. I employ the 3E (Engage, Explore, Explain) model in my lessons to encourage students to observe, ask questions, and think critically about the content. My lessons foster collaboration and communication among students as they discover concepts together. I understand that students absorb content in different ways, so each of my lessons is designed to be adaptable for any learning style.
