After working for 5 yrs at the Lab School at San Jacinto College while attending school at the University of Houston -Clear Lake, I finally transitioned to my Dream Job with Pasadena Head Start, where I am currently working with 3 - 5 yr-olds... I love my job!!
I believe every child needs a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, and socially. My goal will be to help students meet their fullest potential by providing such an environment. According to UHCL, there are a total of five qualities that all teachers are expected to demonstrate. Those qualities are to demonstrate professional responsibility, to foster collegiality, to embrace diversity, to demonstrate commitment to learning, and to maintain professional and personal integrity. In addition, there are also six guiding principles for teachers of exceptional children. Those guiding principles are to have high expectations, build on personal strengths, make valuable contributions, and help foster sound decision-making, strong relationships, and good citizenship.
Both while I was at San Jacinto College and at the University of Houston, I have made the Dean's List on several occasions. However, I don't want that to become a habit. It's too much work! LOL!
Graduated from Deer Park High School, Deer Park, Texas - 1986 Graduated from San Jacinto College, Pasadena, Texas - 2011 with an Associate's Degree Currently working on my Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies Degree, as an EC-6 Bilingual Generalist at University of Houston - Clear Lake
After 25 years in attendance, I finally received my Associate of Arts Degree from San Jacinto College, in Pasadena, Texas. The reason that it took me so long to get that first degree was because, during those 25 years, I got married and had two wonderful kids. Now, I am pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies Degree, as an EC-6 Bilingual Generalist. In fact, I want to teach Kindergarten through Second-graders. This has been a dream of mine since before I had kids. Once my kids entered college, themselves, I decided that I should set a good example for them by finishing what I started, all those years ago. Now, that I finally have my Associate’s degree out of the way, I am digging in my heals and shouting, “Allons-y!”
