From My Hands to Yours

I have had the pleasure of teaching children in various ways over the last five years. While in college to get my degree in education, I worked as a substitute teacher and a teacher at a pre-school/daycare. I helped teach a Summer Bridge program to the children who were getting ready to go to kindergarten. I graduated with my BS in Dec. 2011 and got hired to teach on the day I graduated! I got a position at an elementary school teaching social studies and science to kindergarten and first graders. YES, they switch classes at that school at this age! It was something new they were trying to help improve scores. Along with my regular social studies and science lessons, I also incorporated reading and math. I took a year off to be home with my new baby girl and while doing that I worked on and received my Master's Degree as a Reading Specialist. I then went back to work teaching 5th grade ELA/Social Studies, then I switched to 6th grade ELA the following year. I am currently at the same school and still teaching 6th ELA. I absolutely LOVE it!!!
