TEACHING EXPERIENCE

I have been in education for 24 years. I started my career off in 1st grade and then moved to 4th grade. Then, I served K-5 students as an Early Intervention teacher. My current role as a System Literacy Coach is truly a blessing because now I get to work alongside teachers to help them to become the best they can be.

MY TEACHING STYLE

Students, no matter what age, deserve to have an education that is fun and engaging. I strive to create engaging, hands-on activities that challenge the kids and keep them motivated. I believe that all children can and should exceed our expectations. Additionally, teaching should provide differentiated instructional activities. Group activities are a plus and worksheets should be kept to a minimum.

HONORS/AWARDS/SHINING TEACHER MOMENT

I was named Teacher of the Year for 2018-19 at our school. After that, I was named a Top 10 teacher for our county.

MY OWN EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I have a B.S. is in Elementary Education, a M.A. in Early Childhood Education, an Educational Specialist Degree in Curriculum & Instruction. I also hold a Reading Endorsement, Dyslexia Endorsement, and a Teacher Support System Endorsement for mentoring/coaching purposes. I obtained my leadership certification so that if I choose to go into administration I would be qualified. I believe in lifelong learning as the field of education constantly changes! I enjoy going to conferences to learn as much as possible from others. I have received training in Best Practices, Thinking Maps, RTI, and PLCs. I've attended many reading conferences including Lucy Calkins, Jen Serravallo, Jen Jones, Wiley Blevins, Lester Laminack, just to name a few!
